We may be off the water, but we're staying fit for spring!
Winter training is a chance for current and future rowers to maintain and improve their conditioning and fitness levels during the cold months when we can't be rowing on the water. We mix it up for the mix of people who join us; typically, training consists of:
-
Indoor rowing on rowing machines
-
Stretching
-
Core exercises
-
Cross training cardio workouts (like jogging, biking, swimming, and Ultimate Frisbee)
Saturday, January 30, through Monday, March 22
-
Saturday mornings — 10:30 am to noon
-
Wednesday evenings — 7 to 8:30 pm
-
Monday evenings — 6 to 7:30 pm (casual/open rowing sessions)
-
Every other Thursday — Cross Training
We ask that new rowers and those with minimal experience come to a Monday-night session PRIOR to joining the Saturday/Wednesday sessions. Why? Mondays are more laid back, and we will have a coach there dedicated to
teaching you the correct and safe way to erg. If you're doing it right, it will feel comfortable. If you're comfortable, you have fun. If you have fun, you come back.
We want you to come back! Experienced rowers are also welcome to come on Mondays for self-directed erg time.

Thursday Night Cross TrainingWe find that a little cardiovascular work really rounds out our training. Sessions will be held very other Thursday evening at various locations around the city, and will include ice skating, a Central Park run, swimming at Riverbank State Park, a bide ride, and perhaps Ultimate Frisbee. Cross training is open to anyone even if you're not erging with us.Check the schedule here prior to showing up! Outdoor events may be rescheduled due to weather.
